Are you Struggling with Anxiety?
Thinking about therapy for anxiety? Like many of my clients, you may be no stranger to bouts of anxiety (and its close cousin, depression). Maybe it’s a low buzz of tension and worry that you try to ignore, or maybe it’s more acute, like panic attacks that leave you feeling exhausted and fearful.
Usually, you’re able to keep your anxiety under control, but lately it feels like you’re spending more time managing your anxiety than living your life.
Therapy for anxiety may be for you if:

If anxiety is getting in the way for you, let’s kick it to the curb. My goal for my clients is to help you make the most of your life, whatever that means for you.
I can carry the hope for both of us until you start to feel the sun on your face again.
Therapy for Anxiety
Anxiety is an adaptive biological response that arises when we face dangerous situations. The symptoms you are feeling — increased heart rate, sweating, flushing — that’s our body getting us into survival mode.
Sometimes, your body perceives danger when you are actually safe. Your body’s response becomes disproportionate to the situation, so you don’t feel safe even when you are. You might be stressed about a deadline, an argument, or a past trauma that has left you on chronic high alert. Or you might not be sure why you feel so anxious.
Treating anxiety is rewarding, because therapy really helps. In therapy, we can work together to recalibrate your body’s response to situations and thoughts that are causing you anxiety. I know personally how freeing it is to get out of that anxiety quagmire.
The goal of anxiety counseling is not a permanent cure for all anxiety, because it’s important to have that hard-wired response to danger when it’s needed. (You want to be able to worry about that approaching bus, so you can jump out of the way courtesy of anxiety’s favorite hormones, adrenaline and cortisol!)
Instead, we want to get your nervous system back in balance, freeing you up to live your life more fully.
Anxiety therapy with me:
I rely on scientifically-supported ways of treating anxiety, depending on what issues and symptoms you are facing. For example, someone who is feeling afraid in social situations doesn’t need the same therapy interventions as someone who feels like they can’t stop washing their hands. We’ll come up with a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
In therapy, you can learn ways to manage your anxiety that open up avenues for you to live with more calm, confidence and freedom. I have seen it happen time and time again, and I can’t wait to see it happen for you too.
